Cornerback
Corey Webster

College: Louisiana State
Year: Junior
Height: 6’0″
Weight: 200
Birthday: March 2, 1982

After just two seasons of playing defense, Corey Webster has already established himself as quite a playmaker for the LSU defense. A high school quarterback that was a freshman wide receiver for the Tigers, Webster seems to make those plays in bunches. Of his seven interceptions in 2002, three came in one game against Florida and another pair came a couple weeks later against Mississippi State.

Webster has desirable size and uses his rangy arms and jumping ability to match up with the opposition’s taller and more physical receivers. There are other corner prospects with better quickness, but few possess more potential for a successful career in the NFL.

Webster’s penchant for playmaking has been over-zealous at times, and he’s blown his coverage assignments on several occasions. Still a little raw, he worked extensively during spring drills to improve his technique and accelerate his learning curve. Webster has a good attitude and knows how to accept coaching as a former quarterback. As a former receiver, he’s also got the sticky fingers to be a headliner at his new position as well.
