Cornerback
Carlos Rogers

College: Auburn
Year: Senior
Height: 6’1"
Weight: 194
Birthday: July 2, 1981

Buoyed by a solid performance in the Music City Bowl against NFL-bound receiver Lee Evans, Carlos Rogers thought he might be ready to try his luck in the 2004 draft. A last minute change of heart told him not to go, and by staying an extra year, it could do wonders for his stock on draft day next April.

Rogers is the kind of corner that puts all his energy into what he wants to do on the field, and it shows when he dogs opposing receivers in coverage and tackles them unlike most others. For Auburn fans, he may have won a permanent place in their hearts when playing Tennessee last year. After breaking his thumb jamming a wide receiver at the line of scrimmage, Rogers returned to the field and made a diving interception late in the game to stop a Vols drive in the red zone to save the close victory.

While Rogers plays with confidence and a good motor, he still lacks some of the finer skills to match his mentality for the game. He also needs to add more muscle to his frame, or he’ll have a hard time man-handling the bigger NFL receivers like he has done thus far at the college level. And while he’s returned healthy from his various injuries in the past, they have made him a less physical corner as he’s played through them. Since no one seems to make it unscathed through a 16-game NFL season, it does beg the question of how good Superman is when he doesn’t have his cape.
