The storied history that is our city’s football heritage has seen many ups and far too many downs. From the gut-wrenching losses to the public relation disasters, Houston pro football’s legacy is wrought with tension, disappointment and sadness. Which is not to say it wasn’t a great ride.

Because along the way, we’ve been witness to some tremendous performances from some truly special athletes, men who spilled their blood, shed their tears and gave their all to bring victory to our hearts and souls. And it’s in lasting appreciation of that sacrifice that we compile this list, the very best Houston pro football had to offer — a legacy we should never forget, even as we openly, and enthusiastically, embrace the second coming (which we can only hope will be ultimately more rewarding).
