Greg White
Position:
Defensive End/Linebacker
Drafted:
Round 7, #229 overall
Height:
6’3"
Weight:
260
College:
Minneosta
Birthday:
July 25, 1979
NFL Comparison:
Jevon Kearse

Strengths: Greg White is a defensive playmaker. He’s recorded 11 sacks, 23 tackles-for-losses and 7 forced fumbles in his last 22 starts.

The athletic White is an excellent pass rusher, uses his hands well to thwart offensive linemen and is very agile and tough to block and contain. He’s also technically sound.

Areas of concern: White’s one-dimensional: strictly a pass rusher. He can get buried along the line of scrimmage (he’s small for a defensive end) and teams can run at him because he has trouble filling his space and holding ground.

He’s also been known to take plays off and lacks natural instincts — he thinks too much, reacts too little.

2002 Expectations: White will likely be looked at as a 3-4 edge rusher, as that’s what he projects to be in the NFL, even though he struggled at OLB at Minnesota.

The guy made a lot of plays in college, so he’s not a throwaway pick by any stretch, but, in all likelihood, his greatest impact, assuming he makes the team, will be on special teams.
