Drew Hodgdon
Position: Center
Drafted: Round 5, 151st Overall
Height: 6’2-1/2″
Weight: 309
College: Arizona State
Birthdate: November 15, 1981
NFL Comparison: Matt Lehr
Strengths: Lincoln “Drew” Hodgdon is an interior blocker who has played both guard and center at Arizona State. He is considered a smart player and has already earned his undergraduate degree. Hodgdon played as heavy as 330 pounds before getting down to his current playing weight. He is an excellent directional blocker with solid short area quickness, excellent technique and is hard to knock off of his feet. He can bench press 500 pounds and is an ex-wrestler.
Hodgdon earned honorable-mention All-Pac-10 honors and also won the Sun Devil Iron Man Award. After football he wants to enter a non-profit organization that his family currently owns. Considering a law degree and has his bachelor degree in interdisciplinary studies.
Areas of Concern: Hodgdon does not have great lower body strength and doesn’t have a great base. Although he has played heavier in the past, it robbed him of his quickness and lateral agility. He is a hard worker that has to rely on quickness and technique, and he will be put to the test at the next level.
2005 Expectations: Hodgdon will back up Center Steve McKinney – who has a $3.8 Million dollar cap hit next season – and is versatile enough to push Fred Weary or Milford Brown for their roster spots.
