Position: Cornerback/Kick Returner
Drafted: Round 6, 170th Overall
Height: 5′ 10-1/2″
Weight: 196
College: Notre Dame
Birthdate: March 8, 1982
NFL Comparison: Deltha O’Neal

Strengths: More quick than fast, Vontez Duff is a Texas product who will need to excel on special teams to make the squad. He has a thick, sturdy body and can apply a lick. As a returner, he has a shake and elusiveness that can make the first man miss.

Areas of Concern: His 4.6 40-times are below NFL quality. Scouts say he is not disciplined in coverage, bites on fakes and can be burned. He is also not a skilled tackler but may be used as a special teams gunner.

2004 Expectations: If he makes the team, it will be as a kick returner and dime back. He can survive in zone coverage but lacks the speed to stay with NFL wideouts.
