Brandon Harrison
Position: Strong Safety
Drafted: Round 5, 144th Overall
Height: 6’1 7/8"
Weight: 227
College: Stanford
Birthdate: July 11, 1984
NFL Comparison: Michael Boulware
Strengths: Brandon Harrison has an imposing frame in the middle of the secondary. Some had even projected him as an OLB in the Tampa-2 defense. He did not work out at the combine or at his pro day but is estimated to have 4.58 speed in the 40. He was the team captain on defense and had the responsibility to make calls in the secondary.
Harrison gives good effort in pass coverage and likes to read the QB in zone. He was asked to play CB in college when teammates went down with injury, so perhaps he can play man coverage.
Areas of Concern: Harrison is another strong safety that does not give great effort in stopping the run. At his size, you would expect him to be more of an enforcer than he is. He’ll get caught out of position and will bite on play-action and bootlegs.
2007 Expectations: Harrison will give C.C. Brown some competition. Hopefully, he’ll be able to make an impact on special teams, too. He had a 35-yard return on a blocked punt in college.
