Position: Linebacker
Drafted: Round 7, 218th Overall
Height: 6’0”
Weight: 240
College: Kansas State
Birthdate: June 11, 1985
NFL Comparison: Lofa Tatupu

Strengths: Zach Diles has the instincts and vision that a middle linebacker must possess to be successful. He doesn’t have great stopwatch speed, but moves very well laterally and is able to make plays in pursuit due to the great effort that he gives. Diles can bring some heavy hits and does not miss many tackles.

Areas of Concern: Diles is short and lacks the ideal measurables for an NFL linebacker. When bigger offensive linemen get to him, he struggles to get off the block and get to the play. Because of this, Diles tends to run around blocks rather than taking them on, which creates a risk of leaving a hole in the defense.

2007 Expectations: Diles will compete for a roster spot at middle linebacker behind DeMeco Ryans. He has the potential to be a standout on special teams.
