Tight End
Kevin Everett

College: Miami
Year: Senior
Height: 6’5"
Weight: 251
Birthday: February 5, 1982

With the last three starting tight ends at Miami – Bubba Franks, Jeremy Shockey, and Kellen Winslow II – all being drafted in the top half of the first round, Kevin Everett has a very high standard to meet unless he wants to be the one to break that chain.

Everett, a Port Arthur product who came to Miami via Kilgore Junior College, will be a fulltime Hurricane starter for the first time this season. Due to Winslow’s presence, Everett only started four games in 2003, with all but one of those coming when Miami opened in double tight end sets. Everett is not as fast as Winslow, but he does have good speed for a tight end. He is an effective receiver near the goal line, as he led the Hurricanes in red zone receptions. Everett is not an overpowering blocker, but he generally gets the job done.

While he has soft hands and is capable of making the difficult catch, he does not always concentrate like he should. Last season against Virginia Tech, he dropped a pass in the end zone that hit him right in the hands on a fake field goal.

Everett is not on the same level as a prospect as Franks, Shockey, or Winslow, but he has the physical tools to become a quality NFL tight end.
