Drafted: Round 7, 211th Overall
Height: 6′ 1-1/2"
Weight: 203
College: Texas
Birthdate: December 22, 1981
NFL Comparison: Frank Sanders

Strengths: A product of Klein High School, Thomas returns to the Houston area after four years in Austin. He has the size and build of an NFL wideout, and does a good job of using his body to shield off defenders. He is not a burner, but has the speed to get open and gain yardage after the catch. Thomas has decent hands and adjusts well to the ball in the air.

Areas of Concern: Thomas did not put up big numbers at Texas, having played in the shadow of Roy Williams and B.J. Johnson. He was only a part-time starter with most of those starts coming in multiple-receiver sets. Thomas has 4.5 speed, but lacks the explosive burst and acceleration to blow by defensive backs and needs to get quicker in and out of his cuts. He may also have trouble getting off the line against more physical NFL cornerbacks.

2004 Expectations: Thomas should fit best as a slot receiver in the Texans’ offense. He will challenge for the final receiver spot on the roster and must show that he is rare "major college sleeper" and has more upside than his limited college production would indicate.
