Domanick Davis
Position:
Running Back
Drafted: Round 4, 101st Overall
Height: 5’9"
Weight: 213
College: LSU
Birthdate: October 1, 1980
NFL Comparison: Chad Morton

Strengths: Domanick Davis is a compact runner with a low center of gravity. While he does not have great sustained speed, he does have a burst through the hole and has excellent quickness, moves, and cutback ability. Davis uses his blockers well and is most effective in the open field. He was used extensively in the passing game, and has shown good hands and consistently ran crisp routes. Davis also does a solid job of protecting the football. He was a very effective punt and kickoff returner in college.

Areas of Concern: Davis is not much of a runner between the tackles. He was never the workhorse back at LSU, splitting time with LaBrandon Toefield and only really carrying the full load when Toefield was injured. At 5’9", Davis does not provide much help as a blocker. He also lacks great breakaway speed.

2003 Expectations: Davis should contribute as a third-down and change-of-pace back. He is not the franchise back for which Texan fans have been thirsting, but he does bring a different skill set to the offense than any of the other backs on the roster.
