Offensive Lineman
Jammal Brown
College: Oklahoma
Year: Senior
Height: 6’5"
Weight: 313
Birthday: March 30, 1981
Even though he now plays on the offensive side of the ball, Jammal Brown still shows the athletic ability and tenacity that made him a top defensive line prospect in high school. He displayed those traits last year when he chased down and tackled a UCLA linebacker who had picked off a Sooner pass…72 yards downfield.
Brown redshirted his first season at Oklahoma due to a knee injury. After a year as a reserve, he earned the starting right tackle position as a sophomore. Brown drew only one penalty flag during that first season as a starter. In 2003, he gave up only a single sack.
Brown has the size, strength, and quickness to become a top NFL tackle. He has worked very hard at refining the technique to go with his physical tools, although he needs to continue to concentrate in this area if he is going to be as dominant at the next level as he has been in college. He also lacks experience at the premium left tackle position. Like the Sooner offensive squad as a whole, Brown struggled at the end of last season and did not finish on a high note.
Brown has the skills that scouts covet and with a strong season could be the first offensive lineman selected in the 2005 draft.
